I like to see atheists as seekers of the truth (in Jesus Christ). And since God wants us to minister to others and bring nonbelievers to Christ, what better place than here? So, let Him use you to plant seeds in the minds and hearts of atheists and other nonbelievers that He can nourish and bring to fruition! God bless!

First of all, atheism is associated with religion and spirituality. It is the opposite of religion, therefore, it has a place in this section.
Secondly, how is being here misleading to other people? That sentence you put makes absolutely no sense.
You just don't like atheists' answers because it goes against your belief. What if people have honest questions about atheism? Won't you get tired of saying "There is a God" over and over again?
If there was a section on "Abortion", there would be pro-abortionists and anti-abortionists. Isn't this the same concept?
And about your last line, you say that as if the Religion and Spirituality is JUST for Christians. Maybe you think that because you are Christian and are full of yourself. Stop bashing atheists and answer questions about your religion, which is what you should be here to do.

Well then again as you said, this is the Religion and Spiritually section. This is not the Christianity section. There are other religions in the world. I think it is perfectly fine for an Atheist question to be in the section. Atheists arn't barbic fools (contrary to some Christian's beliefs) they do have morals but they don't believe in God. It's not a religion perse, nor a form of spiritually but it falls between and has all rights to be in this section.

I have never seen an atheist start a bashing trend against Christianity otr any other religion for that matter, thus, it cannot be said atheists are out there to mislead people. I, as an atheist, could not care less whether someone sees life and reality the same way I do. What I do or do not believe in is my sole choice and I am pretty sure most atheists out there think likewise.
Atheism is not a religion by any means. However, the western civilization is so narrow-minded as to see atheism as an evil current of thought. You don't see Yahoo programmers make an Atheism section for questions/answers. That's why we resort to Religion and Spirituality, because it is the section that relates closest to our thoughts. In fact, atheism is the lack of belief in gods (which are the keystones to religions) and spirits.
Therefore, I don't think we are off limits here.

atheisim is no religion.
atheism dont have any spirituality.
athiests think that theyre right and hate all others who dont follow them..
i mean i respect the fact that someone is athiest but why insult me and christianity?
i had one person once who said christians suk because the pastor asks for money. that is not all for the pastor... its for the church and supports the church., i was so sad..
i feel the same way as u.. i cant possibly understand why yhey do that but as christians we can condemn can we?
all i can do is just let them slap me on the face on the other cheek too..
yes i do get tired of people who say theres no God over and over.
they should research about the facts first. and look deep into it. and then ask questions..

I'm sure you'll get agreement, but you'll also discover that
some people are answering questions in all sections without
regard to which section it came from.
Also - do not assume that people who are atheists or
agnostic are not "spiritual". Surely, "spiritual" implies that
you are wondering what sort of world you live in, what your
life means, how you effect the cosmos, etc. To define sprituality
as only meaning some sort of connection to God is to push
away many belief systems, some of which are considered
religions.

To answer questions like everyone else.
I find it strange that some of you get so upset because an Atheist has an opinion about religion, yet some of you have opinions about religions you don't believe in. And speak quite openly when you talk of Pagans, Jews, etc. and their beliefs.

I agree they have the right to their own opinions, but if they have no care for God/gods/ religion etc, they should stay out if they have nothing better to than agitate people.
The same reason I keep out of the categories that do not concern me.
I don't go over to the gay/lesbian questions and harass them for their beliefs, even though I don't agree with them.
if you can't say anything better than just "God doesn't exist" without giving a reason etc, then get your two points else where.
If you have a real question or answer, i will be more than happy to read it or answer it.

Perhaps they are like me and browse the questions randomly and not by category. Than they come across a question like, "why are atheist here?", That's more than a little provoking don't you think? So since they're inside your question anyway ...might as well get the two points and share their views ...just like you did.
That's why.

I know why they are here. They are sent to annoy believers. The more they annoy us, the more the devil can laugh. Besides, If it were not for believers, what else could they possibly do in life?
Their life would be void and not fun at all. Annoying and challenging our beliefs are their stress relief from the reality that has blinded them.
Remember they don't win in the long run. We just need to ignore them, that way the can return to a dull, boring life.
I doubt they go around expressing their emotions so freely in life, Yahoo allows them an opportunity to do what they are scared to do in life.

I'm and atheist. I however, DO NOT BELIEVE IN PUSHING MY BELIEFS on other people. Its not right for a religious person to try and change me, nor is it okay for me to try and tell them "their is not god"
Now, your getting "agnostic" and "atheist" confused. And agnostic is a person who has some spirituality and believes in some form of higher power and is either confused or a mystic (energy, Wicca, crystals....) Whereas and Atheist is a person who does not believe in the after life at all, no miracles or the like.
However, its not okay for you to be saying that they are in the wrong place to be discussing their "beliefs, or lack of them" in this area. Its not okay if they are barking at you but, its okay if they are just trying to express their feelings.
I agree with the fact that if its just a bunch of grumpy people dissing on religion that its not right, but if they are just like you, trying to find common ground with someone, i hope you give them the same kind of consideration you are asking for from them.
Peace, Love and Hope. Thanks for this I think it was a great question/topic.
