I had the same problem until I started using Redken's all soft shampoo and conditioner. My hair was really coarse and horrible. They make a deep conditioner which would help too, like use it once or twice a week but leave it on for an hour or so under a shower cap. The pantene made my hair even drier I think. Also, some of the poofiness can be reduced by getting a different hair style. What I have now was what a stylist recommended for coarse frizzy poofy hair.

my hair was like yours and i went to my hairstylist and they recommended Sleek Look. It's an orange bottle. Just Shampoo and Condition then use this clear smoothing gel from Paul Mitchell when your hair is wet and then blow dry and use it again. Then straighten your hair. It's gonna be perfect and smooth in 2 days if you keep using it.

Find a Salon supply store. "Matrix" is the brand name and they have an awesome line of products. There is a Smooth and Silk set that is great. They come in the orange bottles. Try it out.
