As an Audiologist with a Bachelor's degree in Speech/Language Pathology, I can get beyond it. But it is human nature to want the conversation to flow at a certain pace, and when there's a disruption of that flow, it can be a little uncomfortable. It's hard not to try to finish the person's sentences for them!
I once had a patient with a severe stutter call on the phone for an appointment -- and for most stutterers the phone is a huge challenge -- it took a long time to get through because she was a new patient. Plus she just wanted an earmold for a delayed auditory feedback device that would help with her stutter, so I had some questions because that's not done so commonly in our group. But she was a really nice woman and was appreciative of my patience. I never heard from her after she got the device, so I don't know how it's working for her.

No, stutter doesn't bother me at all, however, sometimes I cannot understand what the person is saying and I must repeat "Excuse me"so often that make me feel a little uncomfortable. That is not because of you,but because of me,being afraid of I might offending you.I have a story to tell you. I had a class mate in my Junior High. He stutter badly, but very smart and had admirable personality. He was respected by all classmates very much. After graduate I have never seen him at all, then college freshman time we had a class reunion of Junior high.A handsome young man approached me and started to talk.I couldn't recognize him,but he was the one who stuttered badly, before. He was a student of very prestigious college, majoring economy. He never stuttered at all and quite confident, intelligent, happy gentleman. I didn't ask him what kind of treatment he had.So, I don't know how he stop stuttering, but. that is possible.

Totally cool, I'd say. I'm not bothered by it. Besides, if a guy stutters, I would think he's nervous, and that, I would say, is pretty cute.

i think a stutterer only stutters when nervous and the longer you are around someone, the more comfortable you would become...stuttering is not a problem with me
