Your growing a parrot? What are their parrot seeds? JK. I have five parrots and to get them to talk you have to repeat the same phrase to them for weeks. Start of simple then you can do more complicated stuff.

My friend parrot grower, if you have a five year old parrot and it has not started to speak yet is because of 2 reasons, you did not spend enough time with it and taught it or it was older than you thought when you acquired it. It takes a lot of dedication and patience.
Also, what kind of parrot is it?
An African Gray, blue or yellow front, Guacamaya? In any case, remember that you have a life time with it, since he most likely will out live you! they are great animals, talk to an expert!

I think you have already done a pretty neat trick. How did you grow a parrot? lol
Just keep talking to it in simple words first. Don't try to teach him to many things at once just try one or two thing and be repetive. Try pretty bird and the wolf whistle first these seem to be easy ones for them. Once they learn they have a voice they will start repeating everything. And I do mean everything. I had a parrot when I was younger that learned how to swear from the neighborhood kids.

Some parrots never learn to talk, my friend has an African Grey named Tibby whos 18 years old and has never spoken a word not even a hello. But my friend loves Tibby anyway she has so much personality.
Love and take care of your bird no matter what and give your bird only the best diet and love you can offer.

it depends on the type of parrot some parrots dont have the abbility to talk other breeds do u also shpuld buy them when there young my parrot is only one month old and she learning how to say whayz up in spanish she has one part of

How do you grow a parrot anyway...... get bird seed and grow them like a plant?
By repeating the same few phrases over and over, that should do it.

Repeating the same thing over and overand one word at a time. One way you can make this easier is to use a tape recorder!

There are books available to help but I think the DVDs would be better. there are also some available for you to play for the bird when you're not around for him to practice on his own. Good Luck
