When I was younger I was in an on and off relationship with a girl for over six years, however, we really only used each other for comfort. I am now currently dating this amazing girl and I've never been happier and so in love. It's always hard to bring up ex's and recently that was the case. It upset her and now she keeps saying that maybe if we hadn't met I'd still be with my ex. She knows how much my past relationship meant to me since it got me through my youth, but how do I make her believe that the past is the past and that I don't love or care for my ex as much as I do her? How do I make her understand that I only want to be with her and that she's everything to me, that I think she's the one for me, that she's all I think about and care about? I always try to tell her this but she never believes me. I'm so in love with her and I want her to know this. Help?

i understand exactly how she feels, my hubby has an ex like that, it will take time, if you talk about your ex then it makes your girl feel like she is only a replacement, so dont bring her up, but if your girl asks about her be honest and tell her that you are in love with her now so the past doesnt matter!

For one thing, if you really love this girl, DO NOT TALK TO HER ABOUT YOUR EX'S. Not even mention them. When you tell her you care for her, tell her instead no one's ever made you care until she came along. The one mistake guys can make is talk about their past relationships, although it meant a lot to you, bury it and concentrate on her. Also, if this is not the case and she is still bringing this up, then maybe she has insecurities, help her get over them, but most importantly, let her know how she has changed your life and how happy she makes you.

You've learned the hard way that its best to save your current love the details of your ex ones... OK we all know our partners have pasts, but its never good to have your lovers past spelled out in detail to you!
I would drop the subject from now on. If she raises it, say 'well i am with you and not her, that is all the proof you need'. Apart from that, your actions should show her. Then it is up to her to deal with it.

It looks like you really like this girl. Try not to stress so much about the issue. If you really love her then just be yourself, and if it is meant to be then she'll come around.

well, if she doesn't believe you give her a copy of this question and tell her you love her, some people don't like thew idea of an ex but eventually they get over it, I hope she does soon, for your sake

You have done everything you can. It sounds more like selfesteem issues w/ her. She may eventually believe you.
