I think my Lady friend still has a thing for her ex, she tells me she doesnt and that he calls and bugs her all the time because he still has a thing for her and that she hangs up on him,,,,,, but then this took place only a few days ago, what do you think?

My lady friend has a son who is 17, doesnt drive, he wanted to spend the day with his Dad who also doesnt drive, it was his Dads birthday and the son invited him to dinner. My lady friend asked me what would I do, she said would you take them to the place of their choice, drop them off and go shopping then go back and pick them up, or would you just hang out with them. I told her that all depended, I really didnt want to say, because I wanted to see what her choice would be.... She said well I think I will just drop them off and go shopping. Well a day later when talking to her, she told me she decided to have dinner with them since it was too hot to go shopping and her son asked her to. What do you think? Thanks.

What you've described is basically the number 1 reason why I don't like dating mothers. The "other guy" is always going to be in the picture when a kid is in the picture. OK...I'm going to tell you a little story. Please listen. I once had some trouble with raccoons coming up at night, getting into my trash cans and generally making a mess of things. I didn't know what I could do to prevent this. But what I ended up doing is I started putting the lids on very tightly and wiring them shut, I stopped putting trash/chicken bones ect..out where the raccoons could get to them. What do you think happened? The raccoons kept coming around for a little while until they finally learned that there was nothing for them at my house anymore. They left and went over and started bothering the neighbors, IDK.......my point it that you have to stop putting chicken bones out for this women, stop being so agreeable to the way she is messing with your mind. I'd be careful cause it sounds to me like she still have a thing for this guy also. FYI....I have dated women before that didn't consider it cheating if they were having sex with an x or and x-husband. I guess since they had a past, it wasn't cheating to them. Be careful. Sounds like the kid is playing you and his dad against each other. He needs to get his own life, and start driving, and so does the dad (life and driving himself)

I am a parent and have to deal with my ex sometimes, but I wont have dinner with him. Your gfr isn't over him or she wouldn't have stayed for the dinner giving him false hope since she is telling you he still calls and she doesn't want him to. I think she likes him calling her and she isn't giving you all the facts about that either. Saying it was too hot to go shopping was very lame, don't fall for it. It sounds as if she only asked your opinion so you knew where she would be in case she was spotted by your friends or family. What? No taxi, buses or in home delivery?
Move on and leave the past behind you like she isn't doing....There is someone out there for you and who will treat you right

Your children come first and if my child ask me to do something like that then I would. Parents sometimes have to do things that they may not be comfortable with because they have children together. I think what she did was out of Love for you Child and has nothing to do with the EX. She was honest with you from the beginning. She even asked you what you would do. She made her decsion for reasons that I am going to guess have to do with the Son. You left it open to her, it shouldn't have been a test with you, that is unfair and she was unaware of that. I wouldn't let this upset your relationship. She is with you , not mine and that says a lot. Take Care and I hope things work out for the both of you. :)

He must not be bugging her too much for her to do dinner with them. At 17 years old im sure some of his friends could have taken him. However you should talk to her about this, but it sounds like she still has a flame for him.

WAKE UP PEOPLE....parents do things for their kids. Parents raising kids separately need to get along somehow for the kids sake. If the parents are adults they find a way to do this. has nothing to do with the current relationship.

My advice is to trust and respect her for being a good parent. Be glad the child is almost an adult and she will be able to distance herself from the situation

Wow thats tuff....sounds like she is not trying to get back together with him if she is with you, but maybe dinner with the ex was a good idea just for his bday but she came back to you, right? Why don't they drive though??? kinda strange...but don't give up hope, just be supportive.
