For all those who answer questions about another's religion with crude and malicious remarks, I have just one thing to ask of you.
Before you disrespect anothers religion and beliefs, do you even bother to learn about it or even understand their beliefs?
And when I say learn I mean really learn, not just read one book or article that may not be the truth and then make your decision. To truly learn of anothers religion, you need to read ALL information concerning it, both good and bad, and meet the people that are involved!

I'm not asking for scripture please, and I mean no offense nor am I asking for people to tell me to turn to Jesus. I am asking a very simple question here, do you or do you not learn about another's religion or even try to understand that religion before you make rude and malicious remarks. I apologize to those of you who are very respectful in your answers, I know not everyone is of the same manners.

Because CRAIG, I believe that understanding can lead to tolerance. Once people learn tolerance then that COMBINED with the understanding can lead to harmony between us!

Wonderful!!
You cannot differentiate religion from the world. It has been a part of the world from the beginniing. Whether we were created by GOD or just happened to grow from a single celled organism. Ever since man learned how to think he thought of a creation theory. A greater being.
Learning about religion is not only reading about it's teachings. Its understanding and respecting each religions beliefs. Which means trying to understand and respecting what people believe.
The greatest gift GOD gave man was the will to choose. The reason we're all here is to learn. The more we learn about the world around us the better capacity we will have to accept it with all of it's faults.
Unconditional love, that is the message.

Would you after becoming a judge go back to school and study to be a lawyer?
We should not be mocking each other as you are doing here now. Religion is the one that has brought all the discussions and war. I will not practice no religion nor want to learn from any religion, I study the truth and try to walk in the truth and the truth shall set me free, it also aloud me to love everyone as they are and not trying to judge anyone, but help those that try to seek the truth.
If my English is not good enough, how can I start studying french when I'm still having difficulties with my first language?
If the truth doesn't release you from captivity, how is it that captivity can release you to freedom.

What makes you think that a greater understanding will in any way reduce malicious remarks? Some of the people on here are insulting religion BECAUSE they understand the beliefs. I personally think that if more people understood religion, religion would not survive for much longer.

I totally agree with you!! Nobody should ever be rude or malicious of anothers beliefs! I have in laws that believe in a different religion than myself, and I just leave it be. On the other hand, they really like to dish out their beliefs and I really don't like that. I believe in God and that Jesus was the son of God, but, I'm not going to knock other peoples beliefs just because I believe that. I think we should all respect each others beliefs and that is that.

I'dsay it's impossible to learn ALL about EVERY religion. Because you don't know everything about someone else's beliefs does not mean you are not enitled to discuss them.
HOWEVER, you are right in that disrespectful, hurtful, or attacking behavior in anappropriate. People need to respect the beliefs of others and, instead of making personal attacks, discuss religion and religious philosophies in an open-minded way.

I agree. I like to think I haven't insulted anyone's religion and I don't mean to, but a lot of times people still get insulted by what I say about their religion. To answer your question, yes I do research religions (not very extensively) and I do make a point of meeting people from different religions.
I also try to be equal-opportunity and consider every religion to be an equal load of crap.

Because people are so full of themselves they answer the way they do.
I base my answers on what I've learned from various beliefs and use the common threads as material of information.
I will say this...The real way is with God and not with any one religion as this is the way to war as shown throughout history, and always will be, until people learn to accept other people as they are and who they are
I walk with GOD not a church, just as ALL the prophets did includeing Jesus himself.

Yes WE need to learn other's religions. Even when scripture is agreed on, the interpretation is not agreed on.
People need to post summaries of their religion. Websites and books of writings that are too numerous and wordy are not too much help. Websites that try to hide beliefs until you join the organization are to be disbelieved.
"Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation." (2Pet. 1:20)

I can give you an answer for them..they are not willing to learn- that takes too much effort for them...they would rather get a small bit of information and twist it into something it isn't...i really think they get a kick out of being rude and offensive.. i guess it makes them feel big.....i am offended by thier comments..but they don't care..i guess they were rasied that way?? they won't change..this i know..but it doesn't affect my belief at all.....actually it makes my faith stronger.......
