Can anyone tell me anything about those catfish that swim up your urethra and lodge spines in you? My girlfriend doesn't believe this is true.

This question is great because the first half is hilarious and only after that do people actually answer my question. Thanks folks! I knew it was real.

Yes, candiru, they are real. I thought they were fake, because they were in a Venture Brothers episode, so I looked them up. Just one more reason why I wear rubber underwear at all times.

They aren't a Catfish, but for the life of me I can't remember what they are called. I saw them on the Discovery Channel I think. They are in Hawaii, or South America. They are attracted to the urine, and evidentally, when a guy is in the water they reside in, and decides to urinate in that water, they rush towards that source, and lodge themselves in the penis. They have to be removed by a physician.
That's all I remember, but tell your girlfriend that they do exist.

Yes, it absolutely is true, but it isnt' a catfish. I saw it on Discovery about a month ago, but i don't remember the exact name of the fish. I believe the fish is in either Australian or African waters, but I could be wrong. It is an extremely small fish too.

It's not true. It's an old wives tale.
