Maybe it's just me, but isn't "high-fructose corn syrup" an unnatural substance made in a factory lab somewhere, and NOT something that you would ever find "naturally" in nature? Sure, you could find and potentially isolate "fructose", but "high fructose" is a completely different lab-manufactured substance, isn't it?
So how, or why, does 7-up get away with labeling this drink as "all natural ingredients"?

7-Up can call itself "All Natural" because there is NO LEGAL definition of the word "natural" in this respect.
While there are strict government requirements that must be met before a food or beverage can be labeled as organic, the Food and Drug Administration does not have a strict definition for "natural."
Only meats and poultry must be free of artificial ingredients to be labeled natural. Other foods, including potato chips, ice cream and cookies, can be labeled as natural without a precise definition.
The Center for Science in the Public Interest says the ad (7-up - All Natural) is misleading, and wants the company to be honest with consumers.
The Federal Government has not yet decided to get involved.

If you do your home work .........you'll find that corn syrup is a NATURAL ingredient made from sugar cane and sugar beets.
Fructose is also a NATURAL sweetener in fruits and other foods we consume. It's used more so now because it's cheaper to produce for manufacturers.
If you increase the fructose in the corn syrup .......it's twice as sweet or more and cheaper to use from a manufacturing point of view and it still remains all natural because the processing does not effect the subject at all(no molecular change)
IT'S AU NATURALE

high fructose corn syrup is a natural product. I do not like it but it is. It is made basically the same was sugar is , but without the last step, of crystallization. But if all soda producers would switch to pure sugar, then there product would taste cleaner. and use the corn syrup for making gasohol.

No, high fructose corn syrup is not manufactured in a lab. There is just a lot of it in the drink. That is what makes the content high.

7up is not a natural processed drink. All of its ingradients are produced in the lab and it isprepared as carbonated by mixing some chemicals including fructose. I dont believe that they mix the natural ingardients as they are not mad.

Its just another slogan that will make buyers purchase their pop. Many companies have different slogans, and in the advertising world, it means more money for the company.

It's still a controversy......but they eliminated some preservatives and added "natural preservatives", and lowering the sodium contents.
