We see that in many backward cultures, man invented Gods to explain natures indifference to themselves. This does not mean all Gods are created by man but it does mean people like to reinforce gullibility in others so they themselves have an edge over those others. Do you think someone raised in a cave imagines a beautiful world and a God that wants to share it with them? Nom they imagine what they see everyday and no God, what we have now has come about by many trials and errors, very few of which can be attributed to a God. That we have one who doesn't hate us is a real plus and should be respected by scoffer and fundie alike because according to what were supposed to believe, vengence is his, not ours. A question arises then, would you be a scoffer if you loved the God? Sure, were supposed to question God and his representitives. Also, its not really a great universe, its too indifferent to have such a superlative applied to it.

Man did not invent God. Quite the contrary, God created man and everthing else in this universe. You are treading on dangerous ground. I hope you come to know God before it is too late and before you have acted too foolish.
Jesus loves you.

did you ever think that God could have invented us? have you ever aproached Him? ask Jesus into your life and be born again by the power of the Gospel (an actual real life event in your real life) if you do this in a prayer sincerely God will answer you! you have to truely seek then God will answer!

A leap of faith to explain the unknown is built in. It is part of who we are. The use to persuade other people probably evolved later but it is likey a good contributor to why religion remains.
