Set your boundaries. Let people know that you know cook for special occassions, sonce it is of no interest to you. But you will be happy to do it every now and then, when you choose to.

Well the real question is not if you do something well or not, it is if you enjoy it or not. Many people are lousy at many things but they enjoy doing them anyways and have fun doing them. Personally, I love to cook. But certainly not on demand and not all the time. Perhaps that is the problem. You think you have to do it all the time or always when requested to do so. You should cook when you feel like it and are in the mood. It's not a job afterall. And make it fun. Cook what you want to cook and when you want to do it. Relax about the whole thing. Turn on your favvy music and poor a glass of wine or whatever and take your time. Make a little ceremony out it. I also when I have time and am in the mood have a few favvy cooking shows that I watch from time to time on the Food Network. That usually sparks in me another future cooking session and gives me alot of new ideas. Also indulge yourself in decent cookware and a few kitchen gadgets to make cooking easier and more fun. But really it always comes down to the fact that it is pointless to do anything in life that you do not truly enjoy doing. Good Luck Bon Appetite!

If you don't enjoy it, then don't do it. My husband is a great cook, too, but I am not on his butt all the time to do so. We share the duties. We both enjoy cooking, though. If you are willing come up with a compromise to please the others, here is an idea. My ex hubby's family would have a family night every Tuesday of the week. We would all go to his mom's for supper. It was a time of good food, and gave the family a chance to all get together and catch up. Not only will you be pleasing your family by cooking, but you will be surprised how it helps to keep the family close.

I have to admit that I really "love" a man that can cook well. Getting to your question........All my life I have cooked..starting at the age of 12 yrs. I was taught that it was "the way" to everyone's heart.....so I did for a long time. It's been 5 years now (or maybe more) that I completely stopped. My friends didn't leave me and now everyone just assumes that I enjoy their cooking!!!!...and now everyone enjoys cooking for me! I love it.

Why do so many people who are gifted dislike it? My son is an amazing artist, yet he wont paint. Do you not like to cook? or do you not like to cook for others? You do have the right to say no without feeling guilty.....heck, even God took a day off!

Women love a man who can cook!
But I see no reason why it should only be you who is doing the cooking. Your gf should share in the fun & so should all the others. Involve them by giving them small chores in the kitchen do to with you. Or share with them how you're making something great to eat. Make your kitchen the party room.

It's nothing personal. It's just very hard to cook well--you have a gift.

If you hate it then don't do it and yes you have the right to deny them you shouldn't do something you don't like it's your life not there's
Just because your gifted at something doesn't mean you have to do it you should do what you want not what others tell you to

You sound like a child who doesn't wan't to brush their teeth because their parents told them too.......
The way to any persons heart is through their stomachs or their mouths rather. People love to eat... And someone who can provide quality and enjoyment of eating is essentially and entertainer. If you don't want to be in the spot light then don't be but don't resent the fact that people enjoy what you do. It's a compliment, accept it.

Make it a condition. "I'll cook if you clean the whole house." Something like that. After a while, they will probably stop asking, knowing that they won't get it for free.
