I am about to embark on a fund raising exercise to raise funds for a local hospice. I intend to walk from Lands End to John O Groats (UK) - which is I believe somewhere between 800 - 900 miles.

I intend to walk the entire distance during my summer break from teaching. If I cannot make the whole distance I will go as far as I can in the time.

I intend to walk BAREFOOT.

If anyone has ever done something similar can you suggest or advise a daily distance walking plan?

A barefoot marathon! Excellent.

My only suggestion is to try and get some friends to walk with you, barefoot if possible. You will need someone to look out for you, even if they are not barefooters or do not walk with you every day. 800 miles does not sound like something that can be done alone.

Joking a bit -- but it would be easier and faster to drive 800 miles barefoot rather than walk it :):)

I think if you walk that distance, barefoot, you will need the local hospice. But I do applaud you for trying to raise money for the
hospice. Good Luck on your journey.

That sounds great but I don't think its a good idea to walk barefooted. Divide the distance with the amount of days you plan to walk to see how much you should travel daily. Have fun!!

Barefoot? You will need to get some advice from a foot specialist. (Can't spell the Ch word).

Also check out www.justgiving.com and www.charitygiving.co.uk as you can get people to sponsor you. You put on the details and anyone can sponsor.

I think at the end of the day your body will tell you better than anyone else.

Good luck

I hope you've done some training. It's not as easy as one might suppose!
