If you want cheaper Indian restaurants that are also good quality, and very authentic, take a walk down East 6th Street between 1st and 2nd Avenue.

There are many good ones out there. We tried:
1. Baluchi's - the food is good (they have many branches).

2. Then, theres Cholas

3. and nearby Yuva (yuva was an awesome experience, they have a different style, so try them after you have tried the usual indian stuff)

4. Tamarind was good
