If you used a trial verison of Microsoft and it has expired it will not let you go to the items that you have made and edit them until you have purchased a full version.

It is like that on my laptop, until I buy Microsoft Office I can't do much.

I never heard of Microsoft Word Perfect. I think you mean Corel Word Perfect, and it may or may not be compatible with Microsoft Word. Double check and make sure you saved the word perfect file as a .doc.

A Microsoft Word "viewer" is new to me.
I work in Word a lot. When finished with a file and you save, then close, make note of where you saved it and what name you gave it. All you should have to do is double-click it and it should open. Am I wrong?

Have you tried to make right click with your mouse on the file and use the "open with" option... choose "Microsoft Word", it should open and then try to verify, as said, if your document is saved as "read only" uncheck this and edit it! Good luck !!

Your document is probably in the "Read Only" mode. Close the document, right click on the icon and go to its properties, and uncheck the Read Only box and check the box against "Archive". This should do the trick!
Don't bother about buying MS Office. You can download a FREE suite at www.openoffice.org. It's comparable with MS Office, and is compatible with it.
