I love drinking beer but don't honestly think it tastes that great. Would we drink it as liquid refreshment if we didn't get that great drunken, I can take on the world and win feeling.

An advantage of beer is that the producers are not allowed to add loads of artificial chemical type things, so as liquid refreshment, if you can't get water it is probably the next best thing, (provided you do not have to drive anywhere)

Beer varies in taste as much as wine.
Some beers are really great - and some are quite frankly absolutely awful.

I wouldn't drink beer for the "I can take on the world and win" feeling - all that cold fizzy liquid sharp kills any such desire long before the alcohol has any effect!

Beer probably kept the Brits. going for centuries - loads of calories, and the alcohol killed the bugs in the water. A jug of beer and a loaf of bread (with a chunk of cheese and a pickled onion) would allow you to till the fields from sunrise to sunset.
And then to home - Hey Nonny nonny no!

The question was - would you drink beer - I think you probably would, particularly if all your mates were drinking it as well. The breweries have done a great marketing job in recent years

Hmm, well I cant speak for you, but I would. There is something about a cold beer on a hot summers day. Just thinking about it makes me want one now, and its only 10:17am.

There is the marketing aspect 'drink to get drunk' approach, but if you dont like the taste of beer, why are you drinking it in the first place when there are so many alternatives?

I have never understood how anyone can like the taste of Beer, its like it's related to vinegar. There is so many alcohol drinks that actually taste good, so why the beer as a choice at all?

After a few years of drinking it the taste reminds you of happy times when your relaxed and chilled out (being as this is when you are only really able to get a drink in!).

The taste then reminds you of those times evertime you drink it so it's psychological and yeah you would drink it for that psychological feeling - especially after a long day at work!

Yes I would. I hate sweet drinks and it is sometimes too hot for tea. I mostly drink water anyway.
