There are certain beliefs that are extremely personal to people, so when they encounter a different belief, they become defensive. It almost like they feel there is something wrong with them because not everyone thinks the same way they do. Because of this defensive and insecure response, they go out of their way to try to debunk everything that is not exactly the way they think it should be.

Most people think they are better then others and there ways are right and everyone elses are wrong. I have my beliefs but who is to say I am right?? In the same breath I also respect others beliefs and like to learn about them and its funny to realize that in some areas there almost the same and in others we are worlds apart. I still respect them. I like to learn about all cultures and beliefs. I think the key word is there is a big lack of respect for others. I hope this changes because everyone in this world has something positive to offer if given the chance.

Because they truly fear their own beliefs are wrong. By debunking others it makes them feel more right. Kind of like the schoolyard bully......by making them feel lower, they feel superior. What a shame, yeah? Oop, I just debunked the bully...shame on me.

Because no one has a right to believe anything at all unless it's true.
