I have a perm plus I dye my own hair at home. The dye I use cost 7.99 I touch up the roots every month. If you go to the salon you paying for the dye, shampoo, conditioner and the labor that's between 45.00 to 60.00 a visit for the dye job alone. That's not including the perm. Also your hair will not break off if you perm and dye your hair if you take care of it and use perm products for dye hair. Don't let the others scare you. I have done both at the same time for years and my hair is not dry, brittle or damage. I keep it well moisturized plus I wrap it up nightly. I also apply an oil sheen to my hair daily.

The problem is not the cost for one dye, but the fact that you have to keep doing it often, or the roots coming out with the natural colour will show.

ur hair will break off if u have a perm and then get it colored. but to prevent that, get a type of hair coloring that doesnt have poraxide in it. (i thinks that how u spell it)
