Believe it or not, none payment of a loan or credit in that amount can actually get you in a lot of trouble even jail time. I suggest you try to settle the 3K you owe the hospital at the soonest possible time. Messing up your credit history - yes. Because collection agencies send a list of names of "banned" people to banks and other institutions that deal with money or credits/ lending etc. None payment can become fraud if you don't pay for it or even try to schedule payments with the collection agency.

Pay what you can, be honest, and know that you will have bad credit for some time. But don't ignore it. If you are in the states on a student visa and want to stay here, pay your bills as you can afford. To make $3K go away is hard for a student who cannot legally work, I understand, but if you have unnecessary expenses (cell phones, cable, etc) cut out those expenses temporarily to pay on your medical bill.

OK I say next time ,go to a community hospital , they will set you up with a doctors call one and find out ,they have program for people low incomes or none and also I'm sure they take non us citizens cause fort worth full Mexicans and i am sure they are not all legal half cant speak English,if Mexicans can get in USA schools with out being an American cit. and also receive food stamps and welfare with out being a USA citizen ,you can go to com unity hospital , I had child who was born 1 pound and 8 oz and racked up hospital bills well over 20,000 , no you will not go to jail , unless that state made that a law? you have to check into that one, but anyways in Texas it goes on credit, that's it and you get harassed with calls , but they can not threaten you , you can sue then.

collection agency can do amost any thing it takes to get there money just check into the state laws because some states make it harder for out of state collection agency to get there money out of you but once it hits your state they can get you play it safe and work out a payment plan if that don't work you may have to resort to filing bankruptcy but do this only as a last resort try your best to work it out with them if not also some hospital and clinics have such a thing as charity care check into this it could pay your bill or reduce it alot.

They can take you to court, do you work? If you work the judge can take it off your paycheck. Or if you have money in your bank account they can take it from there. If you truly don't have any money and if you don't work and etc.. They can't do anything, they can just ruin your credit rate, which in the future you won't be able to get a loan and etc. If this was a large sum of money I would say declair bankruptcy, which you end up paying just 10 percent of that $3,000. But its not worth getting bankruptcy for just $3,000. Make monthly plan with them , you can pay them as low as $50 a month.

They can only come after the money you owe, take you to court, and make your credit rating bad, but why should you even be inthe US if you are only going to take advantage of our health care system?
WHY NOT PAY YOUR BILL?
