Here's the same article from the Spanish language newspaper "Mundo Hispanico"- with THEIR provided English translation. Looks like I've got the trigger-happy "delete" gerbils riled, now!
The article follows:
THE RESIDENT HISPANIC CHILDREN IN THE UNITED STATES ARE FATTEST OF THE WORLD

A fat problem
The problem of obesity is affecting Georgia, where it is estimated that annually almost 7 thousand people die because they are overweight or obese. The epidemic also is affecting the Hispanic community, prone genetically to acquire this disease, causing them to have high indices of diabetes and diseases related to the heart.

Delete THAT!

Genetics- HA! ANOTHER excuse! Why don't we just make it harder for illegals to get WIC and Food Stamps, thus solving two problems at once?

It said in the article it was genetic. Like the American Indians. They are considered the biggest race because of genetics. A whole lot of the problem in the United States is that we eat out all the time and when we prepare our food at home it is usually processed food. Double the fat. We just are in such a fast paced world now that we go the easy way out, and buy it. Women also work outside of the home as much as the man dose now, so there is less time to prepare food for the children and ourselves so each generation loses the knowledge on how to prepare and eat food. We eat to fast, we eat to much.

Ok...but your question is about immigrants and then you go on and speak about hispanics which constitute a great deal of our immigrants, but not all of them. Also which hispanics? The puerto ricans, the mexicans, the hondurians, the brazillians, the spanish? I am a first generation European American. My family practices healthy eating, but never forces us to eat what we don't like because my parents were starving children of the WWII era. I am probably the biggest in my family and I work out two hours a day, cardiovascular exercises one hour a day, yoga and circuit training the other hour. First, remember, muscle is heavier than fat. Also, if you work out, you are hungry. And, I do love to eat. Junk food is my demise. Do you think maybe the hispanics are eating too much junk food which is not as prevalent in other societies as in America. And, they are not working out (running, bicycle, anything to get the heart pumping for a good 45minutes to an hour?) ANd, yesterday, I read that a little fat is not unhealthy. Hollywood will tell us otherwise.

Bucky, I just love you. You make this forum so fun.

You are right, again. They are always complaining about fat Americans but they are fat too. I have been in the grocery store several times behind a Maria with 2 or 3 buggies full of food and they pay for them, how? Food stamps! With all of the fat Mexicans, it's going to be really hard for them to run from the cops no matter where they go!

Hey, Bucky...they delete almost every question I post so don't sweat it. They are trying to intimidate us into leaving. I have had an imposter a few times, I know who he is. Squirrel brain insults me every chance she gets and she claims to be a veteran with a purple heart. (yeah right) I'm not sweating it, they will have to kill me to silence me. Unlike the criminals and their squirrel brained supporters, I care about my country and I love my American people and the TRUE veterans.

DELETE THIS. I WILL BE BACK, THAT IS A PROMISE.
STARS AND STRIPES....FOREVER

You forgot to mention the other races that are here in America are just as fat as the Hispanics! It's really embarrassing when in parts of the world like in Africa the people are starving and are all nothing but bones but the majority of the people here in America are freaking OBESE! we should take half our food in the fridge and give it to those people that way the starving people can live and the Obese people can get skinner!

Diabetes is a major health issue affecting Americans already. To add hardship to our over crowded, under funded hospitals will strain our economy. Diabetes education and a healthy lifestyle are a must. Portion sizes are smaller than most think. Cut out the flour and lard out our your cooking. I see your point, our health care will have a number of more patients that are illegally here, and legal Americans with diabetes will ultimately suffer the consequences. Future health care is bleak.

Many Americans eat an unhealthy diet that has many artificial additives and concentrates. The human body is not adapted well to handle such an un-natural diet. And that's why people get all kinds of health problems from eating this food.

Immigrants often abandon their traditional diets in favor of american fast-foods. And they often skimp on eating relatively expensive fruits and vegetables. Their diet often becomes worse than that of non-immigrant americans. And it's no surprise that they get more health problems than other people get.

"prone genetically to acquire this disease", that sounds like racial profilling to me. You mean that different racial groups have different characteristics, and some medicines that work on some groups don't work as well on others? I thought that pointing out differences between racial groups can get you put in prison along with scientists that said the earth was not the center of the universe.

Probably because the cheapest foods are very high in fat & calories. Did you ever notice that poorer American communities have higher rates of obesity. It's all those fast food restaurants with terrible food choices.

Well, If they are prone to becoming obese, then they had better get into shape if they are not here in America legally.
Maybe they believe that the cops wont drop the donut.
