You are using masturbation as a drug to feel good, no different than an alcoholic or excessive shopper or food addict. This is more serious than it looks, because you go past the normal "feel good" experience. Addicts choose something that makes them feel good, and when they feel "bad" they then turn to their 'drug' of choice, be it food, or shopping, or even shoplifting. If an addict changes one addiction, they simply pick another one, such as not drinking, but smoking. The addict has to look at the behavior that leads to the acting out. There are Sex Addicts Anonymous meetings, similar to AA; hopefully there are some in your area. If not, an AA meeting works, simply take out the word alcohol and insert masturbation in the 12 step pledge. I treated this symptom in men and women, and sadly, they were laughed at in AA meetings; I treated some who did the laughing in the AA meetings and they, too, had sexual problems,but wouldn't own up to them. That is why I started a Sex Addicts Anonymous meeting in our town. The program works, if you work the program. Dont' let others shame you about this; shame leads to more acting out. Eventually you will find out what makes you feel bad(sad, depressed, lonely, angry) and you will have the key to stopping. In the meantime, when you get the urge to masturbate again, get up, dress and get out of the house. Triggers that set this off must be avoided. I treated one man who would call me, and I simply told him the above...get out of bed, dress and leave the house. It worked, but it was a daily struggle. His triggers were horrible in the summer, with near-naked women parading around in nearly no clothes. FIND YOUR TRIGGERS AND THEN AVOID THEM. Good luck...you can do it, with help from those who have been there.
