asians originate from asia, what more can it mean?
but race isn't a differentiator

asian means oriental. anyone who looks chinese. i personally call them orientals cuz asian includes a lot of other countries, including middle easterns, and is not specific enough. though, asian is the politically correct term to use these days.

The person is asking of your ethnicity, or race. They're asking if your genetics come from Asia. Just like when someone asks 'Are you white ?' Then they're asking if you've got European in you.

someone asked that question here too...! i think that by Asian they mean someone who looks Asian, but technically i'm asian too- i'm an Israeli citizen!!
