It is a logical falasy to prove a negative. In other words, you cannot prove that prayer does not work. Even though I agree that prayer is not a super natural thing, it can be effective becuase of the personal impact it makes with some people, but you would never convince most believers that it is anything other than Gods work.

Tough question, for me is a matter of faith. I believe in the power or prayer, and that there is a God that answers. This is not a 7/11 were you exchange money for snacks. God is not an employee at the convenience store, expecting you to ask for something, and then giving it to you. You must follow His law, and obey His word, then you might get an answer.

1 of Corinthians 14: The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Non-believer, eh?

I don't need to watch your video. Attempts to show that there is no God (or that Jesus was not God, or that prayer doesn't work) because we can't "prove" it are interesting.

I (and others) have addressed this many times on YA. You're new here so I'll try one more time.

I can't prove that there IS a God. So His existence is a "belief" of mine (unproven, but accepted). You can't prove that there is NOT a God. So His non-existence is a "belief" of yours (unproven, but accepted).

So you have "beliefs" about God. You call your belief: NO-God. What makes your belief better, more deserving of governmental support, more intellectually sound than mine?

In the beginning there was "something". Why do I know that? Because "nothing" cannot beget "something". Everything that exists in this world is derived (evolved, mutated, self-selected or whatever) from that original "something".

I call my something: God. What do you call yours?

Plasma?
Big Bang?
Evolution (from what?)
Fred?

Whatever... it's your "belief" (because you can't prove it).

How does it feel to be a believer? You must enjoy your belief because you seem to be pretty passionate about it.

(Just like most of us).

Atheists show disdain at Christianity, but the greatest acts of genocide in history were all committed by atheists:

Mao Tse-tung, China Up to 61,700,000 killed since 1949 (Guinness Book of Records) [pic from the Internet]

Lenin and Stalin, USSR 66,700,000 killed since 1917(Guinness Book of Records) [pic from the Internet]

Hitler and the Nazis 5,800,000 Jews 54,800,000 killed in WW2 (Guinness Book of Records)
(Hitler was an atheist. Proof: “Hitler poured scorn on the earnest efforts of those among his followers, like Himmler, who tried to re-establish pagan mythology and rites or, like Hess who resorted to astrology and reading the stars. In such matters he shared with Stalin the same materialistic outlook, based on the 19 century rationalists certainty that the progress of science would destroy all myths and had already proved Christian doctrine to be an absurdity” Hitler and Stalin, Alan Bullock, 1991) [pic from the Internet]

Pol Pot, Kampuchea (Cambodia) 3,000,000 killed between 1975-79 (third of population, 90% of the Christians) (Guinness Book of Records) [pic from the Internet]

"There is no peace says the Lord to the wicked" Isaiah 48:22
“They will be punished with everlasting destruction” 2 Thessalonians 1:9

But Christ offers peace
Jesus - “made peace through the blood of his cross” Colossians 1:20 (Prince of Peace Isaiah 9:6) John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world gives, give I unto you."

Very good, thanks for the link.

To the above answerer: Hitler was a Christian (to you think it is a coincidence that he selected Jews?).

Also, the greatest genocide of all time was committed by the conquerors of the new world (Christians who invoked God to justify their actions) against the indigenous peoples.

It's a convincing video. Just proving that prayer doesn't work doesn't prove there is no God though. It just proves that God is useless.

I recommend taking a look at http://www.slate.com/id/2139373/nav/tap1/ which clearly shows just how powerful prayer can be!
