You do not mention whether or not you are a believer.
The thing about God is that He desires a relationship with you. He wants to hear from you and He wants to talk to you. He is not, however, in the business of "granting wishes" or filling all your desires. In fact, unless you are committed to a sincere relationship with God, He will probably not hear you at all.
He is not at our disposal, we are at His.
That's the way He works and when you understand that, you won't be concerned about "signs".
He is most consistent at not giving immediate answers. he wants us to trust Him by faith, not by signs.
Yes, I have gotten immediate responses from God at times, but it was ALWAYS because I was seeking His will, not mine or because He wanted to show me something so that I could do something for Him.
Here are a few verses to linger over:
(CEV) Isa 55:7-9 Give up your crooked ways and your evil thoughts. Return to the LORD our God. He will be merciful and forgive your sins. The LORD says: "My thoughts and my ways are not like yours. Just as the heavens are higher than the earth, my thoughts and my ways are higher than yours.
(CEV) James 4:2-3 You want something you don't have, and you will do anything to get it. You will even kill! But you still cannot get what you want, and you won't get it by fighting and arguing. You should pray for it. Yet even when you do pray, your prayers are not answered, because you pray just for selfish reasons.
(CEV) Philippians 4:6-7 Don't worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God. Then, because you belong to Christ Jesus, God will bless you with peace that no one can completely understand. And this peace will control the way you think and feel.
(CEV) Psalm 37:3-5 Trust the LORD and live right! The land will be yours, and you will be safe. Do what the LORD wants, and he will give you your heart's desire. Let the LORD lead you and trust him to help.
(HCSB) Psalm 139:17 God, how difficult Your thoughts are for me to comprehend; how vast their sum is!
(HCSB) Proverb 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; think about Him in all your ways, and He will guide you on the right paths.

I don't ask God for signs I pray to God to help me with a problem or sometimes ask him for something specific. He works in mysterious ways. Sometimes the response is direct sometimes it is oblique and yet in the end it works for me. Take the time to pray (well that is more of an old fashion term) really talk to God from you heart. Discuss your worries and your problems. Ask him for solutions. Be direct. He will lead the way you just have to follow the leads. A friend of mind has been trying to get this through my head for years. It is finally sinking in. God is loving and warm and will guide us, we just have to listen. Even when the whole world seems to be falling apart and the day is a dark as it can get try talking to him. It is a comfort no matter the results. Good luck with your conversations.

I have asked for signs or answers many times. The answer is usually 'No'. I did meet a young lady in the Army that had left her husband's funeral and as she walked she asked God for a sign of what to do with her life. She looked up and saw an "Uncle Sam Wants You" poster and joined the Army that day. Didn't say she was the brightest young lady I had met, but it's a true story.

I usually just trust God within me to help me when I have a problem I need to sort out.
I've heard of people who have asked for signs, and they believe they've gotten them, I've also heard of people who have spent years waiting for some sign before they realized that God had been speaking to them all along.
My advice is to listen to the voice of God inside of you.

God does not answer questions or prayers. The belief in prayer is a superstition, as described in this video:

i ask GOD to show me what i need to know or what he wants me to do for him and i get messages in my dreams although most i don't understand but so far im leaning towards 'pray warrior' in all my dreams i am praying for someone and casting out demonic doings. just ask when it's your time you will know. it;s not allways your time to do his work but when it is you will know it took me years to understand.

Hey, George Bush says he talks to God every day and that God answers him. So if it works for Bush - why not for you?
