It's a device that lets you take what's on paper and translate it into digital format so you can then access it and manipulate it on your computer.

A scanner can mean a couple of things. It is either a device used to scan documents or pictures to upload to a computer or print it out. Or it can also be a receiving device used to listen to a band of frequencies like fire and police departments for example.

its like u put ur photo in the scanner and it will come to ur computer in a picture format

You use a scanner to scan any document/photo etc.. on to your computer which opens it up in an imaging software document.
