I am flying and want to take my GameCube to play when I get there. Should I put it in my check back or should I carry it on? I obviously don't want it to be taken at the security check point, but I also don't want to hold up the line while they check to see if it works. If I put it in my check bag, will it be safe there?

A good semi short answer, if you take it on with you, take it out of your carry on before it goes through x-ray, once it goes through it's done, there's no plugging it in to see if it works, or put it in your checked baggage with lots of clothes around it so it doesn't get damaged. Make sure you have a lock on that bag and that it's unlocked when you check your bag so if the TSA Officer needs to go in it they can, ask the airline ticket agent to ask the TSA Officer to lock it when they're done, you can stand there and watch if you want. Also as the former airline agent said informing the agent you have it and signing something, sorry but you don't have to that's only for weapons, remember us TSA Officers work hand in hand with the agents.

You can not check electronic devices with out signing a release. It is always suggested to carry these items in your carry on since they are small and light weight. It will not be confescated at security since it will be x-rayed. BUT airlines will not be responsible for any damage to any component of any electornic item should you choose to check it.

I worked for an airline for many years and Im not gonna lie....loading baggage on an aircraft is called "tossing bags". Think about it...you have 30 minutes to get a plane loaded with 500 bags each varying in weight. Its repeatitive motion. Bags are stacked up on top of each other and shift during flight.

You are welcome to check the bag with the device it in, but you will need to advise the agent its in there and sign a limited liability release. Its on the back of the bag tag so no one can say they were not informed when they get to their destination...its right on the tag. If you do not advise the agent and it gets to your destination and is damaged or missing, the airline will not be held responsible.

Allow plenty of time to get through security. People take these onboard all of the time. Some airports, if they are small, will call you back to the ticket counter and make you take the device out of your bag or sign the waiver. If its a larger airport, you check the bag at your own risk since they are too large to call you back to the counter.

Bottom line....NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER check an electronic device or any item of value. If you dont want it to break, carry it on if its an item that is approved by the TSA.

Take your digital camera with you and unzip your check bag at the checkin station. Take a picture of your bag with the game cube visible as well as that day's newspaper or your eticket so that the date is visible.

Then send your bag off, you now have nearly incontravertible proof that your game cube was in your checked bag

I think other people have answered this question pretty well but I just want to add that GameCubes are pretty durable (more so than the X-Box or PS2), so I wouldn't worry too much about it getting broken, particurally if you pack clothes around it.

Both work.
Either way you're gonna get checked.
