How do u add silde numbers like (X/Y) where X is the current slide and Y the total no of slides in the presentation??
I know how to add slide nos normally..i want it in the above format..
and hope u understod that i want to do it in a single step and not type the x/y in every slide manually...:-)

I don't think there's an automatic way for PowerPoint to add the total number of slides in the footer. But you can add the slide number of the current slide in the footer and then you can manually type in the footer the "/20" -- if you put it in the footer, it will appear on every page, so you only have to enter it once -- after you know how many slides are in your presentation.

I think Laura (who answered below) is correct. I just went into PPT. You can have the slides numbered in the footer, but I don't see the x/y option such as that in Excel. I think you will have to put the x option in the footer, and when finished, go back and enter the "of ___" yourself. It is a pain because you have to remember to correct this if you later add or delete a slide.

View -> Header/Footer....

There will be a section for specifying how you want the footer details to be displayed.
