because everyone has a different point of view.
The problem is there is no RESPECT
its human nature that people who are different are looked down on
no one religion is right
it's up to the individual to decide what path to take in life.
some find inner peace with god, some just live by the teachings and values placed on them from birth by their parents.
sure some people will find faith as the answer, some people will change their minds about religion and decide that they shouldnt do what the religion tells them to do but do what they feel is right thing to do in life, either way there is going to be trouble when people start believing that they are right because xyz or it's in a book or because science hasnt proven that their god exists.
people should take a long hard look at themselves and NOT JUDGE OTHERS just because they found a different path. either way we should all worry about whats happening now and not in the future.
who really knows if there is an afterlife or a hell.
why do people insist that what they believe is better?
respect others in what they believe because no-one has the right to preach to others, nor are they in a position to really know what's right.
lifes too short

This gets to me too. I do go to church and am a practicing Catholic. That said, I find other religions interesting and never condemn a person for their beliefs. I have a friend who is a Born Again Christian and it is there life's work to condemn all religions. Just check out some websites. About 70% of the stuff is condemning all religions. People think what they're doing is right and it makes them furious that others don't see the "truth". It is alot of brainwashing to me, but there I go condemning their religion. I don't care what a person does, but don't be intolerant. Some of these "Christians" are the most uncharitable mean people I've ever met.

It's very personal for people, and many times their entire lives are molded out of their religious values. Religion isn't just about acceptance of others; in fact, there are several that encourage active conversion anyone the person runs across. What it is about is honoring your God and adhering to the guidelines and values put forth by your religion. Being faithful and obedient to the Word of God as your religion describes it generally means you have the love of God, enlightenment and eternal life after you depart this earth; things that question or threaten that personal a goal are often not taken well.

Because, and I know I have said this before, religion is something that virtually everyone is BORN into. They are indoctrinated from childhood in the beliefs of their parents.
When they get older, they identify who they are with their beliefs and political leanings.(Also indoctrinated from childhood).
Then when anyone issues a question that is perceived to be a threat to themselves(not the belief) they feel it is a personal attack on who they are.
Many people would do well to, when they get older, to really dig in, and test the doctrines and grounds by which they live, to see if they are really true. Then if they become satisfied that they are right , need to realize that if the God they worship is ALMIGHTY, then he will easily handle all those who stand in opposition. As he has always done as at least the record of the Bible shows.
I really do not know if other religions "God" is in need of humans help, makes me wonder why they do not see this as a sign of weakness.

If you have a different religion than someone, or even a different denomination of the same religion, than by default you think that their beliefs are wrong and they think that yours are wrong. That makes conversations about religion a tricky thing with people who have deeply held beliefs. The key is not to point out the aforementioned fact (that you both believe each other are wrong) and not to get into a discussion about who is right and who is wrong.

Because it is so personal and important. People oftentimes feel the need to "save" people. I am a Christian and used to feel very gung-ho about trying to "convert" people by talking, explaining, etc. (which usually leads to arguing and bad feelings.)... Then I learned that the Bible tells us in a very straightforward way that the Bible, Jesus, and Christianity in general will never "make sense" to someone who does not have the Holy Spirit.
I have seen it happen to very close friends, that we talk, argue and discuss-- and then one day, they discover that the only way it will possibly make any sense at all is to simply pray,
"OK God, I realize that I will not understand until I have your Spirit to teach me... So I am just going to take that tiny step of faith and believe that you are real and you are who the Bible tells us you are. Jesus, come into my heart and be my Lord and Saviour.. And Holy Spirit, I believe that you will begin to teach me now."
And WHAM! They suddenly have the capacity to understand what the Bible is really talking about. It's truly amazing to see. I have seen some of the most adamant atheists become believers this way.
Some of the biggest arguments I've seen have been between Christians who are arguing over the finer parts of faith. (i.e. gifts of the spirit.)
Bottom line- it's God, not man, that can reveal the truth (and the Holy Spirit conveying truth through man... although mere man tends to add his own "spin" to the message.)

Because most people think they have the BEST way, the correct way to reach heaven. The reality is, nobody has the one perfect way/system/religion because humans are not perfect. If there was a perfect religion, don't you think we'd all have figured it out and joined up! Plus, what would be the point of being here on earth if we had it all figured out? There wouldn't be a point in being here and so, we wouldn't be here...

Religion these days is more about brainwashing. If you suggest anything to a brainwashed person that is contrary to their brainwashing, then it will automatically trigger the anger response.
Also you can unleash a torrent of talking points just by mentioning such key words as 'abortion', 'gay marriage' and 'flag burning'. It's like Pavlov ringing a bell.

Probably because no one really knows which religion is true. I believe in God... so I think he is true. It's like people are afraid of what might be said and think it may somehow change their own views. Except if it is the Muslims... they actually believe they will get 40 virgins in heaven. That doesn't even sound like it could true. Why would God commend someone with virgins?

Everybody has their different views and opinions about religion. Some believe in God and not Jesus; some believe in Jesus and not God; some don't even believe that Jesus or God ever existed. Talking about religion to some people is just about as sticky as talking politics to people too.
No one has the right to force another human being into believing in God and Jesus. We as christians can lead someone to believe but the final choice is up to each human being to decide for him or her own self to believe or not.
It's like the old saying "you can lead a horse to water...but you can't make them drink". I hope this was helpful to you.
