Question!! Laws in Ohio about fathers abandoning their children before they are even born.?

My son is now ten and we have never had contact with his biological dad. I heard awhile ago that after a certain amount of time in which the said father does not try to be part of or contact the child , that he no longer has parental rights. Does anyone know if this is true?
