yes because the a/c compressor is being powred by engine from the serpentine belt, and is uses part of the horsepower to power the a/c unit.

Yes it does, however, I have heard that is better to use the AC while driving at speeds of 50 and above, because the wind coming in the car tries to hold the car back so in turn needs more power to push the car forward. The way I see it, whatever makes me comfortable that is what I am going to do.

Yes. Based on the following link, it looks as if running your air conditioning can decrease mileage by around 12%. The air conditioner draws power from your car's alternator, which is powered by the engine. So logically that energy isn't "free" and your engine needs to work harder with the A/C on comared to off.

sure, employing the air does waste petrol. in spite of the shown fact that, I watched on the information form software final week that driving which includes your domicile windows down makes use of extra petrol. whilst the domicile windows are down, wind will come into the vehicle and reason a drag--which needs extra petrol to circulate because of the fact in a feeling the vehicle is heavier.

Yes.The AC compressor is turned by a belt on the motor resulting in more drag on the motor.Turning it on & off engages & releases a clutch & pully which the belt drives. That speed thing is wrong.(answer above)AC works better at higher speeds because the more air (wind) flows through the AC condenser the cooler it is & makes things run cooler all around.

Yes Just watch your rev counter it will drop when you switch air con on That's because you have engaged a compressor whose job is to pump refrigerant around your system ,If your rev counter drops its because the engine is working harder that uses more fuel Regards Mick

Yes it does. With the current gasoline prices, I would suggest NOT using it at all for economics sake. If you have to stay 'cool', you will pay for the extra petrol/gasoline.

yes it does. Air-con is a drain of power, the more power you use, the more fuel you use. It is more economical however, to wind up your windows and use air-con at higher speeds.

Yes your cars compressor takes 25% of your engines power to run the a/c so it will require more fuel.
