You've brought up an intresting question. I cannot answer for others who use this forum; however, spelling correctly requires attention, a dictionary and patients.
During childhood my mother used to read to me and spelled many of the words to aid my understanding. Because of this I developed resources that enabled me to continue to learn rather than stagnating with a sub-standered recognition system. I've grown much older now and still use a good dictionary when puzzled with a spelling problem. For me, spelling, sentence and paragraph construction are very helpful for enabling those who read my writing to fully understand more of what I intend to say to them. These things just help everyone concerned in a conversation to get much more meaning from written words.

This is the same question I placed on here earlier, thank you for being someone after my own heart! It, in my opinion, boils down to basic laziness and dumbing down of schools from left wing councils. If someone wants to speak as in a text message, get a mobile and use that, on here one is using a full qwerty keyboard, so no excuse! I am fed up of doing a translation befoe I can get to the real question being asked. I like to help where I can with ansers but in all honesty, where the first line is so poorly written, I dont even bother to read the rest of their question. What's wrong with people using the 'check spelling' on here to educate themselves ....then they will learn from their mistakes!

It is a sad reflection of the truly appalling state of education in the US. On one hand we have some of the best literature and art in the world and on the other hand we have the millions who cannot put two words together without making three mistakes, even with the spell checker.

I think it is mainly just laziness as there is a free spell-checker that many people cannot be bothered to use. And poor teaching accounts for the use of "their" instead of "they're". They ought to have the spell-checker compulsory rather than optional and have a built in grammar checker like the one in Word.

I was thinking the same thing also. I can overlook those from different countries where English is not their first language. But there's no excuse for Americans, Canadians, and the Brits.

It must be cool not to spell correctly. I notice a lot of chat room lingo here. I am not impressed!

I don't know about that. It might be because there are many people from different countries on here. It's good that they at least try.

many reasons, depends on the person, which keyboard is he/she using. (u must know the french keyboard is diff.) they failed English class. type very fast to answer first. don't use the spell check, laziness...and the list continues my friend. for me my space bar is loose so if it is windy I'll have many blank characters.

My guess is that they are young or are not used to writing in English. And I guess they aren't familiar with spell check.
