First, you should exercise more. It doesn't necessarily reduce the amount of LDL, but it helps to increases the amount of HDL
Try and reduce stress and reduce weight to normal, if you're overweight.
Avoid saturated fats (butter, palm oil, coconut oil, bacon drippings)
Go easy on trans fatty acids or partially hydrogenated vegetable oils ... i.e. cookies, chips, etc.
Go easy on sausage, bacon, hot dogs, steak, corned beef, bologna and egg yolks.
If you drink milk, choose the 1% or less variety.
Go easy on pastries and cakes.
No fast food (hamburgers, tacos, fries, etc.)

Oatmeal exercise, lean meats, fresh fruits, lots of water, more exercise (walking is the best for starters) (go walking AFTER you eat), stay away from fried foods, heavy sauces and gravies. Eat dark green veggies (don't cook them to death).You can do it!

2) Take flax seed oil (Increases HDL, good cholestrol)
3) Completely avoid fatty foods (especially saturated fat) (Decreases LDL, bad cholestrol)
