It's my native language, so I don't think anything about it. I take it for granted. But, as a former language student, I can say it's not one of the easiest languages to learn, like all Latin languages (Spanish, French, Portuguese, etc). There's many verb conjugations, and many irregular verbs. Italian grammar is much moe complicated than English grammar. I know many foreigners found Italian fascinating and musical. If you want to learn an extra language, go for it. But probably it is more useful to speak Spanish -- Italian is only spoken in Italy, while Spanish is spoken in Spain, Latin America and now the US as well.

I'm in high school and am in adv. french, one of my friends and I and really good, i've been to france once and am going back to paris and the riveria next spring break for 9 days, the language is a must learn, because the culture, food, art, and history is so much more enjoyable if you know the language
At home, im teaching myself italian with the best software:
ROSETTA STONE software www.rosettastone.com
it isn;t cheap but worth every penny
my library offered it for free, just went on my public library's site and put in my library card no. and set up a free account, after i purchased the italian though, i use the online to skip around in the lessons and look at other lang.s as well as improve my french
