In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
Reference:
21:7 If a man sells his daughter as a maidslave, she shall not be freed as male slaves are released.
21:8 Her master should "provisionally" designate her as his bride, and if she is not "pleasing" to him, he must let her be bought back. He is considered to have broken faith with her, and he therefore does not have the right to sell her to anyone else but her father.
21:9 If [the master] designates her as a bride for his son, she must be treated exactly the same as any other girl.
21:10 [Similarly], if [the master] marries another wife, he may not diminish [this one's] allowance, clothing or "conjugal rights".
21:11 If none of the above three are done [to the girl], then she shall be released without liability or payment.

I can't believe how many of you pay lip service, but don't really believe in the literal truth of the bible. These were the direct commands of god about biblical family values. Why do you mock the word of god?

I can hardly think of a greater form of slavery for your daughter than to be raised under your roof & with your skewed values. I think there's something called compassion in the Biblical viewpoint as well.

11 where there can't be Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, bondservant, freeman; but Christ is all, and in all.

12 Put on therefore, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance;

13 bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do.

14 Above all these things, walk in love, which is the bond of perfection.

Those were easy enough to find! Have a nice day.

I'm posting 2 on-line Bible-based articles that discuss the Bible's/God's viewpoint of both slavery & bride-price. Anyone interested in this subject can easily look up all the Scriptures they refer to w/ a simple 'click'. One such is:

"Man has dominated man to his injury ... " (Ecc 8:9)
God gave protective instructions regarding the treatment of slaves, such as those found at: Deuteronomy 21:10-14.
Jesus Christ himself said (Lu 6:31):
" ... just as you want men to do to you, you do the same way to them."
The Apostle Paul gave instructions to a Christian slave-owner on how to treat his slave at: Philemon 10-17.
" ... consider that the others are superior to you." (Php 2:3 - Paul)
"For a certainty ... God is not partial, but in every nation the man that fears him & works righteousness is acceptable to him." (Acts 10:34-35 - Peter)

Links to these ( & many more) actual scriptures are in the text of the following 2 articles:

Did God Condone the Slave Trade?

Negotiating a Reasonable Bride-Price
http://www.watchtower.org/library/w/1998/9/15/article_01.htm

Both of these articles explain God's/ the Bible's viewpoint about how he wants people to treat one another, especially regarding slaves & wives. Instructions are to be considerate & to not take advantage. I hope you will read them for yourself, and ...

I suggest converting to Islam and moving to Somalia or the Sudan where slavery is still practiced. You have to convert to Islam because most of the Christians are made into slaves.

Alternatively, you can convert to Islam and move to rural Iran where a daughter gets 4 or 5 goats on the open market.

ok for the people saying "it was a different time back then" wouldn't that apply to all aspects of the bible? ie: the ten commandments. if you are willing to just dismiss Exodus then why should it be different from any other part of the bible?

you are allowed to just pick and choose things out of the bible that you want to do but the rest .. "oh, it was a different time"

How can he rot in hell for this sin? It is in your stupid book of faith. Only obey the good or convienent parts huh? Like the be an a*s all week and then get forgiven on Sunday?
I'd say don't do it. It was a stupid idea when they wrote it down.

As always God's word shall be done.

But,seriously
Great way to show the religious fruitcakes out here how wrong they are. They will however not get it so what's the point in offending them this way?Try being nice to them, they're just like little children, afraid to do it on their own. Most of them don't mean harm.

*hint* i dont think he really wants to but is showing you what the religion was like back in those days so you can see that things change over time and for the better of all humans

Dr Pedro, i think that if the religious types werent so quick to judge others there would be no need to point out the flaws in their beliefs

yeah, and your talking about a time where people were very uncivilized and thought that everyone had to be stoned to death as a sentencing (still done today, but we are in a much mannared country) so this question is just silly. things done in the bible are not ment to be recreated, just read and understood the past and know what is in for you for the future.

Yeah that was an awful thing in that time and you may think that barbaric things like that don't happen today but people back then didnt kill their babies in the womb like we do today with abortion. There are alot of weird things in the Old testament, I wouldnt spend too much time getting tripped up on it all.

You could try E-bay. Unfortunately there is no site for Israel. That's a pretty complicated returns/resale policy you have there. I think I might suggest you start with a reserve price of 50 shekels.
