I use to have panic attacks and really bad anxiety. I found a simple solution by accident. If I felt extreme anxiety or a panic attack coming on, I would drink 1 or 2 glasses of water straight down, and it stopped it every time. In about 2 minutes I would feel a calm come over me. It has never failed me yet. I found that eating foods high in sodium can trigger anxiety, or just being dehydrated can trigger anxiety and even full blown panic attacks. Come to find out, dehydration is a major cause of fearful feeling, hyperventilation and anxiety. I try to drink more all day long now, and I have no anxiety or panic attacks anymore. Good luck!

An antidepressant, such as Zoloft, should help. Xanax can be used for short term only. It is habitforming and doctors don't like prescribing it continuously. Antidepressants will do the same thing; they just take longer to start working. It is usually 2-3 weeks before you see a difference. You might have some unpleasant side effects at first, such as nausea or more anxiety. That will usually clear up over time.

Ive suffered for a few years. Even ended up in the ER thinking I was having a heart attack or something. It leaves me in bed for a week at a time after a bad attack. I get all weak and my chest burns. Try getting on Lexapro. You have to take it for awhile, but it really did help me. Then I weaned myself off and have been ok off meds for 5 months. Its a chemical issue in the brain...so just "relaxing" or not thinking about it, isnt going to take it away. Dont get me wrong, by focusing on it, you will make it worse because in turn you will worry more. Try to avoid stressful situations. If someone causes me stress, no matter who it is..i stay away from them.

anxiety? If you suffer from anxiety disorder you should get on meds. that can really ruin your life. if you already are, go to ur libary and get out boks on it. In your home, set up a small spot for meditation. put plants and fountain arou nd it and when you start to feel anxious and overwhelmed, sit in it and remember you are in your own home, in a place of your making, surorunded by things that you have chosen. take deep breaths.

There are meds for that. Anxiety can be treated and controlled. You have to remove unnecessary stress from you life to prevent any further attacks.
