It's basically a version of mass that is to show their rebellion against Christianity. I don't know the exact details just that most of them don't truly believe in an entity called Satan, but rather use that as a form of Christian rebellion.

black mass is just a pronoun that is used to describe the difference between the catholic and other religious gatherings from that which is used to worhip satan.
