Yes, you just have to legally change their names. I did with my 15 year old. It cost $94 for the court cost and $25 to advertise it. It was very easy and went fast.
It can be done. I am irritated by the people who said no, they did not try very hard. I actually did it, so it can be done. At least in some states.
I did not have her biological fathers permisssion, and he still has to pay child support. I advertised instead of asking him. He didn't see the ad, he was unable to contest the change. He didn't even know til it was over.

It depends on the state you live in. And weather their father is in the picture. In most states you would need the fathers consent. You can legally change the last name with out adoption. It varies state to state. And Ranges from around $100.00 to $500.00. If you are wanting him to be their father and raise them, adoption might just be a better option.

what state are you in? Name change laws appear to vary by state. I know a few acquaintances who changed their names just because they wanted a different name.

I did a search and in some states, like Wisconsin, it appears minors can also apply for a name change...but it requires both legal parents consent. Are you on good terms with their dad? Would he consent? Again, this varies by state...and it will still cost money.

Here is the link to a website about name change law. please check it out depending on your state

Yes I agree with "nik named mom". I live in Ohio and I am about to change my ten year old's name to my now married name. It cost around $200.00. Call your local family services or city hall and they should get you to where you need to be. Good luck!!
