That's a good question. From a bible perspective: “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."
Romans 10:17–18 (quoting Psalm 19:14)
So some will say you have to be exposed to the best arguments for this, which would be reading the bible (i.e., research the source of people's beliefs).
From formal theology, some will also say that the only true way to know God is from God's revelation to you, spirit to spirit. Which also proves the existence of your spirit at the same time. Kind of a two-fer.
And from both the bible and theology, it seems to imply that some people are 'given' more faith than others. But overall I like this one:
Philippians 2:12 Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
So it seems to require some effort. Which you seem to be applying by asking an intelligent question. Nice job.
Below is also a nice link about faith.

It like you want prove you can try all you want put it up to the creator to give you prove
But who is man a little lower then the Angel
Who is man to test the Creator of life
We are nothing but like the sand of the hour glass
We live we die and another come after us answer the same question and another We here are like a moment of time
the rich ,the poor goes the same way
But the belief in God the Creator of life it up to you to know but if you don't that alright to
it rain on the righteous and the unrighteous we all going to same way the grave
We have this hope that GOD is real some already feel it other want it other don't understand it and some don't believe it but we feel something all around us and don't understand it

God do exists, it is we who don't want to know him, God is pure and our friend, brother or whatever relationship you wanted. He is there for us.
I have not studied Bible thoroughly but I beleive in Jesus and all other Gods of all religions because in my theory God is one and religions are created by humans and not created by God.
There is a story which I liked the most :
A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed. As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation. They talked about so many things and various subjects.
When they eventually touched on the subject of God, the barber said:"I don't believe that God exists."
"Why do you say that?" asked the customer.
"Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn't exist. Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children? If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. I can't imagine a loving a God who would allow all of these things."
The customer thought for a moment, but didn't respond because he didn't want to start an argument. The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop. Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard. He looked
dirty and unkempt.
The customer turned back and entered the barber shop again and he said to the barber: "You know what? Barbers do not exist."
"How can you say that?" asked the surprised barber. "I am here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on you!"
"No!" the customer exclaimed. "Barbers don't exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside."
"Ah, but barbers DO exist! What happens is, people do not come to me."
"Exactly!"- affirmed the customer. "That's the point! God, too, DOES exist! What happens, is, people don't go to Him and do not look for Him.
That's why there's so much pain and suffering in the world."
I hope you now understood what I wanted to tell you.

Real believing or faith needs no proof.Besides I could'nt save you if I tried,Jesus already has.All you have to do is accept it if you choose to.You have access to all the information that I do.Free will is what it's all about. As far as us evolving.I to think thats how we came to be.When the bible was written, man did'nt have the capacity to understand evolution.Despite what most people believe, the bible was written man & mostly in mans words.Especially after it was "translated".Most of it is history & life leasons being passed on.The ten commamdments & the new testement in my opinion are the only true words of God & Jesus. You're relationship with God if you chose to have one is like every other relationship. It's between you & him only.I'm not saying I'm right.I'm not that arrogant, but I think I am.I hope this makes some sence.I worked all night & only slept 3-4 hours yesterday.

Prove to me that God doesn't exist. Look out your window, do you see a majestic tree or forest? How did that tree or forrest get there? Take a look at the sea or ocean, how did the water get there? Look upon the flowers that bloom in fragrant blooms and colors, how did they come about? Look at a newborn baby, how was it made?
Answer me those questions honestly and I shall tell you more about God and His son Jesus.
I can't nor can anyone else save you. It is up to you to gain all the facts first before making the decision for yourself if you want to believe or not. God gave each one of us the right to choose. We as humans must face the consequences of our choices.

There is nothing in this world I can do or say, to make you believe that God exists. In fact you seem like the type if God himself came and said here I am, you still would not believe. All I can say, is I hope you see the light one day, because living in the light is so much better than living in the darkness. I am telling you all this from my own experience.

Believe me, it's highly over-rated. You don't need God or Jesus or any other icon or talisman to "save" you. Just do to other people as you would have them do to you. If the "God concept" doesn't float your boat, take up another hobby. Like working the soup kitchens to help the indigent or collect clothing for some underprivleged kids.
Don't beat yourself over the God thing, it's just not essential to being a good human.
P.S. Try not to let others make you feel guilty about it either. The "Jesus Shouters" seem to enjoy trying to make you feel bad.

Well, there are a number of ways to prove that God exists and a number of ways to prove that God doesn't exist, it's up to you if you want to believe or not, mocking other religions doesn't work, nor is being close minded, you gotta see and explore other view points rather than argue arrogantl. If you're insisted that God doesn't exist, then I don't think anyone can convice you that He does, plus no one has the right to force you to believe.

You poor kid. I really wish I could help you. You've been brainwashed and indoctrinated into a false sense of security. Do you think your mockery is really impressing anybody? Do you feel "superior" to people who have faith?
Don't you even realize that your belief that there is no God is also based on faith, since, try as hard as you will, you will never "prove" it? Do you even have the tiniest notion how sad you come off sounding to those of us who have faith in our God?
No, little one. I can't help you. I'm afraid you've been abused and decieved beyond my poor powers to change anything in your life. I can't save you.
But I do know Someone Who can.

that's just the thing. it's all based on faith not proof. to be honest i've been a little confused myself lately. i'm catholic & have always believed that jesus was theson of god. i read this book recently that pretty much takes the new testament apart & basically trys to prove that everything i've ever believed in is a blown out of proportion fairytale, based on some actual facts about a wise man named jesus. i want to believe in god & i do. i just feel unhappy about the book & a little depressed actually.
