He was part human, and like any of us He had the power of choice. That's a huge part of what makes His sacrifice so incredible... He wasn't a powerless victim. At any and every moment, He had the power to stop the torture, to get Himself down off the cross, to strike dead all who would dare treat the Son of God so. But He didn't. He was a *willing* sacrifice. Every second that He suffered, He permitted it. Every insult, every pain, He allowed, because it was for us. He *could* have refused to. He had that power. But He didn't.
