Funny... I've actually been predicting such a chip used for that purpose for over 10 years... and I can only guess that people smarter than me (and even some not as smart as me) have been predicting it even longer...
As I understand it, the chips are going to soon be imbedded into children... with the assumption that having this chip will make it easier to find them should they be abducted... and it sounds like a good idea... so parents who want to keep their children safe will ge the chip implanted...
But a child can't "accept" the chip if it is automatically implanted... so at some point, those children - the ones who had the chip inserted before they had the capacity to decide for themselves - will have to make a choice... and our society is already geared to be excited about "upgrades", so it would not seem like such a big deal to some people....
There are those, however, who will choose not to accept the upgrade (the mark)... they will have to be hunted down and dealt with... which isn't a problem... since they already have a GPS tracker in their hand....
scary??? not really... because since we know it is coming, we can prepare for it... we can warn people about it... and we can prepare ourselves to be "caught up"
What's REALLY interesting... is that the more we warn people and tell them of how to escape, the more we will sound like raving lunatics... all part of the devil's scheme... it was necessary to have several dozen cults get ready to leave with the "mother-ship" and act that on the surface sounds similar to what the Bible predicts... so when we explain to people about the "rapture"... they will think we are as crazy as those folks in Jonestown and Waco and so forth...
Be vigilant... Be ready.

I am a christian and I don't think they are the mark of the beast. It does seem like it because of the mark on the arm and so on but one could make the same argument for the numbers tattooed on the arms of the Jews during WWII. I believe that it has pros and cons. it does help curb identity theft and fraud and possibly eliminate some terrorism but I am not comfortable with the government knowing every time I purchase a personal feminine hygiene product and so on. I think there are some privacy issues and what I purchase or spend my personal money on is not the governments business unless it is something that is use for terrorism or harmful to others.

I'm not aware of any current programs that implant microchips in people. Major news outlets discussed talks inside United States Congress to implant microchips into some migrant workers. There does exist technology to store your personal information on the magnetic strip on cards and small chips. There is a strong parallel between what may eventually happen and what is written in some parts of Revelation, but one should live as good as life as possible, rather than be driven by prophecy.
Your statement about a chip giving a government total control of people confuses me. One does not need a chip in order to be an autocracy or dictatorship, as has always been evidenced in history.

I truly believe so. I think all they'll be needing to do is to scan ones hand and ones employer loads the salary into the chip and the shop will just scan a hand and the money for groceries is electronically transferred to their account. It is a frightening possibility and one can appreciate how difficult it will be to resist this.

I think it sounds damn convenient. It'll cut theft and fraud, among other things, down huge amounts.
I want one.
While we're at it, inject me with some nanobots. They could take care of my headache.
Seriously.
