Buddhism is a tradition that focuses on personal spiritual development. Buddhists strive for a deep insight into the true nature of life and do not worship gods or deities.

Basically Buddhists seek to end suffering in this world. The believe that desires are the cause of all problems and suffering. They seek to slowly detach themselves from worldly desires. Buddhists are not so concerned about God. The believe that only man's action can change things. However, Buddhas guidelines are generally not compulsory for all Buddhists. Normally they take some and ignore some, although Buddha would not recommend that. They also seek to achieve complete spiritual enlightenment like Gautama Buddha himself.

Buddhism has two denominations. The base of Buddhism is on the sufferings in life, the reason for these sufferings and how do we get rid of the sufferings.

Buddhism is based on a lot of things - it is a philosophy - You can't explain it like in Christianity saying there is a God and everything else revolves around him.

It even describes the anatomy of human body and uses, How to spend your earnings, how to live with friends, who are enemies - how u treat them etc. to how to attain Nirvana. The abidhamma contains details in to spiritual lives, after death lives, out of body experiences. etc.

Unfortunately you will have to go through study material if you really wanna learn what Buddhism is all about. But you want to know specific details, feel free to drop a line.

What Buddhism believe is the "four noble truths".
1.) that all life is suffering. Birth is suffering, aging is suffering, dying is suffering and that's bad. Suffering is bad, mmmkay..?
2.) Suffering is caused by cravings (desire). So, that's bad. Cravings is bad, mmmkay...?
3.) So to end suffering, you must end cravings. because they're both bad. mmmkay...?
4.) The proper way to do this, you have to follow the Noble Eightfold Path.

The Noble Eightfold Path are:
1. Right understanding - basically, understand the four truths.
2. Right thought - never think thoughts that are greedy, petty, harmful to others, or violent.
3. Right speech - No gossip, no lies, no insults.
4. Right action - Don't kill, steal, get drunk, lie.
5. Right livelihood - Have a job that does not cause you to lie, steal, kill or trick people.
6. Right effort - have a good reason for following the Noble Eightfold Path, otherwise, it won't work.
7. Right mindfulness - be aware of things that are affecting you, meditate on removing worldly desire and hate.
8. Right concentration - by seeking neither pleasure nor pain, your mind and body become focused.

So that is buddhism, mmmkay..?

They believe in Buddha, who was actually Siddhartha Gautama, born 560 BC. He became Buddha after reaching an enlightenment during a journey he went on.

He believed that man's desire causes suffering in the world...ex. greed for materialistic things.

Buddha's teachings include the 4 Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path.

The Eightfold Path is kind of like the Ten Commandments in Christianity, because they are guidelines on how to live.

Right Faith
Right Intention
Right Speech
Right Action (kind of the same as "Thou shall not committ murder"...if you don't kill, it's right action)
Right Living
Right Effort
Right Mindfulness
Right Meditation

Buddhism is more philosophy than religion. There is no God of Buddhism but Buddha is revered as the founder and spiritual leader. In Buddhism, wisdom and spiritual awareness are found through meditation and introspection. There is a strong awareness and appreciation for the spiritual world in Buddhism.

I'm no expert on Buddhism but I have spent some time in a Buddhist country. And from what I understand, they believe in achieving enlightenment which is making one's soul become like God. They believe that Buddha has achieved enlightenment. And they look on Buddha as an example that they should follow.

Buddhists believe that people are souls who never die but who leave their body that gets old and dies and re-incarnate in another newborn being. These repeated re-incranations are a kind of evolution that makes people's souls better and eventually makes them like Gods. Or these re-incarnations are a kind of devolution that makes people's souls worse and eventually leads them be re-incarnated in dumb animals and mindless insects.

Whether it is an evolution that improves people's souls or devolution that makes them worse depends on how people choose to live their lives.

Those who try to increase positive feelings within themselves through meditation and those who try to lead good lives regardless of the difficulties they face are those who improve their souls and advance towards their goal of enlightenment.

And those who succumb to negative emotions such as fear, anger, hate, and envy and those who act out on these emotions towards others are those who make their souls worse. The souls of these people are likely to be re-incarnated in some animals or insects after their present bodies die.
