I subscribe to neither faith, but I was wondering about this. In my opinion the Dali Lama would run circles around the Pope. Fire away.

Why should it be a contest?

They are both learned devout men, leaders of many believers.

May God bless both of them and their missions.

With love in Christ.

I heard the Dalai Lama speak live one time, so I may be biased by that, but it was a memorable speech. The pope is too hobbled by the traditions of his church to be wise in the same way that a man who is honored as an individual, the way the Dalai Lama is, can be. Also, I know almost nothing about this new pope other than he is German and was in Hitler Youth as a child. As he so rightly points out, he had no choice; that is, his only choice would have been too much to expect of a child. I am willing to assume he is a good man.

It's the "Dalai" Lama not the "Dali" Lama. I would say both of them are allright. Depends on your point of view. However, recently, in India when 'forced'(yes, forced) conversions to Christianity was outlawed it angered the pope. Makes me think.......

The Pope is well-learned in Catholicism, but nothing else.
The Dalai Lama (for whatever reason) knows the name of Bradgelina's baby.

The Pope is malicious (Ratzy or Pope Maledict)... so I guess the Dalai Lama is wiser.

The pope is a very humble learned professor. To lead millions of catholics with thousands of PhD holders together with unschooled peasants requires greater wisdom. So I'd say the pope.
