My sister is getting married and, as her main bridesmaid, she has asked me to read a scripture from the Bible during the service. Any ideas what I could read?

May the love you express to each other today, always be the first thoughts during any trying times in the future.

Remember the love you feel today. Look back on it daily and measure how much it has grown.

Tips For the Perfect Toast: If you'll be proposing a wedding toast, be sure to: 1) stand to deliver your toast, 2) maintain eye contact with the bride and groom as you deliver the toast, 3) keep the toast between 3 to 5 minutes long so you won't lose your audience, and 4) use personal anecdotes to spice up the toast. Feel free to use humor, but end the toast on a serious note.

Genesis 2:18 Then the LORD God said, "It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.".."Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh." This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
Ephesians 5:31-33

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

If you have a part to say at the reception, maybe you could interject these verses :o)

The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise the wife to her husband. For the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. Do not deprive one another, except perhaps by agreement for a limited time, that you may devote yourselves to prayer; but then come together again, so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. 1 Corinthians 7:3-5

PM Tony Blair also read it at Diana's funeral. . .and with the intended effect.

It's I Corinthians 13th chapter. . .all of it (verses 1-13). . .check out a number of the various Bible translations and go with the one that sounds and reads best for you. (Example: The King James or Authorized Version uses the word "charity" throughout. . .but newer translations use the word, "love", which probably resonates more with a modern ear and audience.)

We had this read at our wedding. . .you can't go wrong!

Deuterium 4:13 "And the lord did bless Galdavish with horse-like manhood. And so did he set forth unto Babylon to impress the ladies. But the Lord, upon seeing his work, became jealous with Galdavish and cursed him with marriage and a visit to the Mohel."

Whatever you do PLEASE don't read that 1 Corinthians 13 verse about love being patient and kind etc. I HATE that one. It is so BOGUS and I can't for the life of me see how it relates to a real marriage. It just makes me cringe everytiime I hear it. Too sappy!
