Well, Paul taught that if you receive a service, then you should pay for it (basic honesty and fairness).

Paul expressly said that if someone teaches you about God, you should pay the teacher for his service (And, by the way, the church janitors do not clean up your mess for free -- they need to eat & feed their families too.).

If you don't like the way that the church spends its money -- because you want to see a bigger proportion go to helping the homeless, for example -- then why not show up at a business meeting (Which, in most denominations, is usually open to all members) and complain?

I am really tired of people who complain about the church from afar, but never get off their couch and do something about it. The church elders do not read minds, you know.

BTW, when is the last time that you wrote to your representative in congress about the U.S. budget deficit? Or do you just whine pointlessly and do nothing about that too?

PS: And when is the last time that you want to a movie or concert, and was asked to pay only what you thought that it was worth to you? Church is the only form of entertainment or teaching that is tuition FREE because the guy sitting next to you subsidized your attendance.

I'm an Atheist, so I'm not going to give my hard earned money to promote ignorance, fear, and superstition. I'll have you know that churches pay ZERO TAXES. That's right, absolutely nothing. If anything, they should be paying ME for the public services that they use.

The obvious answer for me is "B". There's a place on the web where you can donate to all of your favorite charities on one website: www.networkforgood.org

My wife and I were talking last night about how we can help my mother and father get through the economic hard times they're having at the moment. It's tough because there are already several people dependent on us and you can't get blood from a stone. It tears me apart but that's why I kill myself working seven days a week - to try to make a better life for those I love.

Thankfully, nobody on either side of my family has ever paid a penny to fatten the bank accounts of the rich-and-untaxed.

Good for you !

Generosity is always a beautiful trait to have !

When i make my own business an actually have over 1000 dollars ill donate the vast majority of it too !

I think that trait of mine , of being unselfish with my money was like the only one (Good) one i didn't loose then have to recover because of my apathy, selfishness , self righteousness .

: * (

May the Lord be with you .

I spend very much less or nothing at all on Sundays because I stay at home. Any how, my Sunday is almost over now - I am in the eastern side of the world

Since my church does both A and B, then I'll chose A to accomplish A and B rather than choosing B, which won't also accomplish A.

Church? Ha, those people are so corrupt.

I'd directly donate money or food to a homeless man/woman so I could see where my money/food is going. I don't trust the middleman.
