Just wash them, cut them, place them in a freezer bag. Remember you can freeze any fruit or vegetable if its something you plan on cooking. They will be a bit watery when unthawed, not like before you froze them.

I tried freezing tomatos. They taste sort of acidic and are almost good enough for spaghetti afterwards.
Canning isn't all that difficult since tomatos are acidic enough to not need the high temp to prevent botulism that something like green beans require.

Never froze tomatoes. I dehydrate mine. Use for anything you would use fresh ones for as when added to liquid they rehydrate. Even for salads in winter, just add them directly to your preferred salad dressing to rehydrate them.
