The majority of glass products have small raised circles along the lower front of the glass (pickles, instant coffee, jelly, etc). Each glass has a different pattern. Are these raised dots a form of Braille?

After looking at several glass jars....some have it...some don't....and each is different between the brands or food types or even jar sizes.

It is not braille for the blind. Braille is 6 dots in a square and as dots are removed is the text. These dots on the glass are all straight where Braille is not.

I would say it is a code for the glass company who makes the jars or what not. Since assembly lines are so computerized anymore I am sure its easier for a computer to feel or read a few bumps as a code over trying to read a 95 that is half melted together.

To those that say this is a stupid question:

You are the stupid ones. Do you think blind people just sit at home and wait for things to be brought to them? Do you think blind people just sit in a room all day doing nothing?

Braille is all around you ever day. At the ATM, in fast food, on elevator controls, street crossing buttons, restaurant menus, etc.

Why would it be so hard to think that someone got smart and put braille on glass jars so the blind could shop alone? Let alone be able to be at home and feel what name is on each jar before they cook?

The reason handicapped are handicapped is because of people thinking like you all do.

Mature some people.....its the adult thing to do.

No. Decoration & it allows you to get a better grip if the jar gets heavy or slippery.
