I need to take this advice myself. Bars are a good place to meet people who have problems and also drunk people. So bars are not a good idea. The most important thing is to get out of the house. Find some activity that you enjoy doing. Take a class. Eat at the same restaurant at the same time each week. I guess you have to get some activities going on a schedule so if there is a lady interested or if there is a lady that knows a lady... Well you have to get yourself out there and make your schedule predictable. So here is a list of things you could do. Volunteer for a social service, or for local events. Take classes. Exercise at the same time and place every day. Go bowling. Someone also mentioned church. Church is good for you spiritually. If you feel good spiritually then other things tend to fall into place. You could get into church activities. I am currently looking for a lady myself and have had about enough bad experiences meeting flaky people in bars. I hope this helps you out. Good Luck!

BTW ignore all the morons with the age comments. They will get to be older at some point if they develop the wisdom to know when to keep their mouths shut. Oh well I guess the ignorance of youth gives us something to laugh about.

If you're looking for companionship there are several different ways to find it. Locate your city on the Internet yahoo search. It will list singles meeting groups. A lot have met that way. The chat rooms on Yahoo, AOL, and microsoft (MSN). Supermarkets. Meeting someone at clubs isn't a great idea. It involves alcohol, smoking and other bad situations. Mainly situations that have family problems to start with. Don't be sucked in by these dating services. A lot of them will coax you to office and you'll find it hard to get out of there. You'll end up with a bill of anywhere from $2,000 to $5,000. It's a set up in most locations. It's legal, but they're setting you up. I almost didn't get out of that situation when I went to one of the appointments. They refused to let me get out of the office at first. On the internet chat be sooo careful who you associate with. Get to know them first.

Not the internet. That's for sure. If you are not a churchy type, get a new hobby, take an evening class somewhere that interests you, join a book discussion group or a hiking or biking club, volunteer at a non-profit, coach a kids' sports team.

You can go dancing, that would be fun. There are places for middle aged people who are single can meet. Go to lodge meeting or go to a singles bar, nothing is wrong with that. My dad is older than you and he meet someone at a social gathering for single or widowed older people.

Go to the library. Seniors love to read and some haven't jumped into the internet pool yet. You might wanna try taking a cruise . Lotta seniors take cruises. Finally, move to Florida- its the retired, divorced, mature, goldigger, capital of the world. :)

I think you should just make as many friends as possible. The more friends you have the better your chances at finding someone in your age group that is also dating. Your friends will invite you out to events and they also might know someone who is your age and looking to date. So, go to church, volunteer, join groups... just get out there and make friends. The more people you know, the better your chance at getting "discovered".

The gym. Lots of older women work out, and want to find an attractive older man. (you could probably go as low as upper 30's, if you are hot and/or rich)

Any younger woman than that is probably not going to have much in common with you.

Oh, or church/synagogue/mosque/ashram.........
