My freind doesn't like most of the classics, like "You Are So Beautiful", "Amazed" is purely been skewered to death, "I Finally Found Someone" sounds too "desperate" and "I Don't Want To Miss a Thing"... well, duh.
Those "top" songs just are not doing it... I have taken her to every site possible to try to find her something, but she calls the current "top" wedding play lists CRAP. I am in crunch time... I need a better, more up-to-date list of music that would be good for the groom and bride to dance to. Even a song or two suggested would help... I need to apease the great Bridezilla.
I think I hat a good note with songs like "Don't Let Go" by Bryan Adems and Sarah McLachlan from the soundtrack to Spirit: The Stallion of the Cimmeroon and "Flying Without Wings" by Westlife from the soundtrack of Pokemon 2000, The Power of One. Are there any more REALLY good songs from movies I don't know about? Just a thought.

At my wedding I used Shaina Twains From this Moment duet version with Bryan White. But I also like her song Forever and for always. One song I love that's an older song and country is Keeper of the Stars by Tracy Byrd. Or Christina Aguilera put today twist on a classic song At Last.

"And I Love Her" by the Beatles (it puts the focus on the bride which sounds right up her alley if she's a bridezilla *S*), or maybe the song that Adam Sandler sings to Drew Barrymore at the end of the Wedding Singer, GREAT song!! I don't know if that's on the soundtrack or not, but it should.
"Beautiful In My Eyes" is also nice...don't remember who sang it, I think it's from the late 80's early 90's..?

A Bhangra would certainly be a fresh change from the usual 'Ave Maria' by Schubert or the likes. Or if it is a chinese wedding, play some Belly Dancing music. It is daring to be different from the norm that the bride and groom is looking unlike the many weddings they have attended. It would be refreshing to have malay 'kompangs' (hand drums) being sounded to summon the arrival of a non malay/muslim bride and groom.

When I got married in July 2004 my wedding song was I Could Not Ask For More by Sara Evans. There is more than one person that sings this song. Maybe she would like It's Your Love from Tim Mcgraw and Faith Hill or The Reason by Hoobastank. Good Luck in picking a song.

It depends on her tastes. I would love to hear or even see the video of "Under Pressure" by Queen and David Bowie but that would really freak some people out.
Songs by Nick Drake are terribly romantic like "Pink Moon" which was in some film. If she wants something darker "Black-Eyed Dog" is amazing.
Personally, I would love to hear anything by Mississippi John Hurt, Howling Wolf, Buddy Guy, Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, the Blues Project, Blood Sweat and Tears, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Beck, etc. but most people would find such songs to be very heavy. You could try some Gospel songs if she likes religious music.
To be really romantic, try "Girl from Ipanema" in Portuguese or English by Astrid Gilberto with or without Stan Getz. If she likes French, anything by Edith Piaf. If she is more conventional try a romantic song by Sara Evans or Lee Ann Rymes. (If I misspell any names, please forgive me because I can't do a search on each name.)
Finally, "A Little Help From my Friends" by the Beatles or Joe Cocker. "Wild Horse" by the Rolling Stones, Flying Burritto Bros. or Graham Parsons. Just about anything from Billie Holliday, Nora Jones, Emily Lou Harris, Willie Nelson, etc.

"Keeper Of The Stars"
Tracy Byrd
It was no accident, me finding you
Someone had a hand in it
Long before we ever knew
Now I just can't believe, you're in my life
Heaven's smiling down on me
As I look at you tonight
I tip my hat
To the keeper of the stars
He sure knew what he was doin'
When he joined these two hearts
I hold everything
When I hold you in my arms
I've got all I'll ever need
Thanks to the keeper of the stars
Soft moonlight on your face
Oh how you shine
It takes my breath away
Just to look into your eyes
I know I don't deserve
A treasure like you
There really are no words
To show my gratitude
I tip my hat. ETC
It was no accident, me finding you
Someone had a hand in it
Long before we ever knew

My wife and I danced to "The Look of Love" by Dusty Springfield. That was in 'Casino Royale' (1967) and Susanna Hoffs did a remake for the first Austin Powers movie.
Also try "Forever Mine" by the O'Jays; it wasn't in any movies, but it's damn great!
Good luck taming 'zilla!
