i purchased a used car and it did have the safety check sticjer on the window saying that it passed the safety check. but when i got into a car accident on mother's day this year , my air bag never deployed and my whole hood was crunched, my front headlight's wole piece is broken along with my radiator and altenator. FACT: airbags are supposed to deploy at point of impact of 5 MPH. my accident happened on the freeway at around 60-70 MPH.

There is no way to check the operation of the airbag prior to an accident. A safety check can look for problems with an air bag system, but can not be sure that it will work. You may want to report the problem to the NTSB, in case there is a history of malfunctions.

Front airbags are designed to deploy in a front end collision at a preset force or amount of deceleration without regard to vehicle speed. The early systems with sensors mounted on the front of the vehicle would sometimes deploy in minor collisions when they really weren't needed.
With most modern airbag systems, it takes a major impact to set off the bags. All airbag equipped vehicles have an on-board diagnostic system that tests the airbag system for problems every time it is started.

An airbag should NOT deploy at 5mph. I may be wrong, but I belive the sensor relies on a certain amount of g force. I bet you did not hit something standing still when you crashed. If you think an airbag should delpoy at 5mph then you have never been hit by one, they are not nice, but can save your life if you hit something hard enough. You need to check your "facts"

JeffyB is very close. Talk to an attorney and let said attorney talk to the dealer, manufacturer, and maybe even the previous owner. He or she may have taken action to disable the bags. If your car has more than one bag, did any deploy? My daughter had a similar situation in a rental, we didn't know what to do and by the time we figured it out the time allowed had expired. REALLY REALLY, see a personal injury attorney as soon as possible...

I hit a deer and destroyed the entire front end of my car and thank God my air bags didnt deploy. I Have heard of lots of people that are injured by the air bags. I was probably doing 55 miles an hour when I hit the deer.

May want to get in contact with your insurance they may have some tips on what your next steps are. May want to contact the car company that made the car....in either case or if things go chaotic, you can always get a free consultation from a lawyer.

Go to church and thank God the airbag didn't deploy and take your head off or otherwise beat the crap out of you.

Talk to an attorney, and or the car dealer where you bought the car. If you were injured, you may have cause against them.
