yes it can be, but people always thinks that boys-girls r never good friends. there hide's love somewhere. its not so. i and my best friend, r so good to each other that all thinks that v both r lovers but v dont mind their talks coz v know v r not so. and v always use to share each n every thing mostly v use to talk abt the person whom v loved. so dont bother and giv most importance to ur friendship. There could be a relationship like that. I have a lot of boys as my friends but some of them sometimes start to have feelings for me, but not all of them are like that.

i dont believe people are gay, if that is the way you mean boy-boy and girl-girl, but friendship will go as deep as you want it to.
