Does it have religious significance? Is it a prophetic sign?

A white buffalo is significant no matter where it is born. There was one born recently in captivity (sorry I do not remember where) that died shortly after birth. The white buffalo is a symbol of hope, peace, and the future, for the People. The birth of one is a covenant saying that Spirit is still with us. The death was taken to mean that Spirit cannot right now find a home here.

It is very similar to asking the question, "would Jesus feel at home if he walked into my house?". If the answer is no, that what your household promotes would be antithical to the values espoused by this teacher, then it is time to reassess your values. The white buffalo is born, and trhives, where the spirit feels welcomed.

Yes. The birth of a white buffalo is a rare occurance. Only one in 10 million buffalo is born white. The Legend of the White Buffalo--a story now approximately 2,000 years old--at many council meetings, sacred ceremonies, and through tribal storytellers. There are several variations, but all are meaningful, and tell of the same outcome and that is communication with the Creator through prayer with clear intent for Peace, Harmony and Balance for all life living in the Earth Mother. The legend of the White Buffalo Calf Woman remains ever promising in this age of spiritual enlightenment and conscious awareness. In today's world of confusion and war many of us are looking for signs of peace.

"With the return of the White Buffalo it is a sign that prayers are being heard, that the sacred pipe is being honored, and that the promises of prophecy are being fulfilled. White Buffalo signals a time of abundance and plenty." - Keeper of the White Buffalo Calf Pipe, Arvol Looking Horse.
